I literally happened into the speech realm on a suggestion from my parents’ neighbor. I was in college contemplating my future, and civil engineering was just not cutting it. A singer in the Auburn University Concert Choir, I believed my fate was sealed when a speech pathologist showed up on campus one afternoon to lead a symposium on vocal care for singers.
Since those defining episodes, my career has continued to unfold on its own unique path. I was challenged and grown by my school-based experiences with multicultural populations and loved studying Ruby Payne’s framework for the hidden class rules at play in poverty and beyond. I have lived in the inner city of Atlanta, Georgia, provided speech services for school kids on the Big Island of Hawaii – minding the local “pidgeon” dialect - and honed new rehabilitative experience before coming to belong in the Reavis family.
Having experienced a diversity of work environments, I am free to more deeply appreciate all that Reavis Rehab proudly stands to offer.
